Our second visit to Ireland saw the tournament played just outside the great City of Dublin. The tournament was over 72 holes using four different venues, Castlewarden, Citywest, Naas and Beech Park Golf Courses. All courses were within easy driving distance of the tournament headquarters, Citywest Hotel, Saggart, Co. Dublin.
The welcome cocktail party was held on Sunday 19th June 2005 in the Ballroom at the Citywest Hotel. The World President, Jerry Bradley extended a warm welcome to all, a ‘cead mile failte’, making special mention to those attending for the first time and renewing friendships, made from attending World Tournaments in many different parts of the world.
The tournament was played on Monday 20th, Tuesday 21st, Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th June 2005. Wednesday was the free day for resting and sightseeing.
There were 279 competitors from 14 different countries, Australia (41), Canada (9), England (23), Finland (1), Germany (20), Ireland (78), Japan (13), Scotland (3), Switzerland (15), South Africa (1), New Zealand (25), Taiwan (8), Sweden (8) and U.S.A. (34).
The Presentation Banquet was held on Friday 24 June 2005, in the Kingswood Suite at the Citywest Hotel.
The World Champion was Nathan Park, Australia.
The Senior Champion was Peter Read, Australia.
The Super Senior Champion was Malcolm Barker, England.
The Lady Champion was Cornelia Ulm, Germany.
The Doug Crosby World Cup was won by Australia.
